Meet the Tapestry Team – The Violi Family

Cade (2) and Luke (5) Violi

Cade (2) and Luke (5) Violi

Kristin and Anthony Violi have been involved with Tapestry for nearly six years, even before the adoption ministry at Irving Bible Church was known by that name.

They first encountered the ministry as they were beginning to explore adoption.  Since that time they have adopted two wonderful boys.  But not only that, throughout their adoption journey they have served countless adoptive and foster families by helping set the direction of Tapestry and serving in many different ways.  One of the most important ways in which they currently serve is through their leadership of Tapestry’s waiting families small groups

There is no doubt that the Violi’s have been blessed by adoption — but God has also used them to be a blessing in the lives of many other families along the way.

Sharing God’s Heart for Orphans With Your Kids

Posted on November 20, 2009 by The Tapestry Team1 Comment

Hope for Orphans KidsAs more and more people are awakened to the needs of orphans, we see many followers of Christ discovering and embracing (many for the first time) the privilege of loving and serving these children that are so very near to the heart of God. But the joy and blessing of being the ‘hands and feet of Jesus’ is not only for “big people” — it is for our children as well.

Hope for Orphans has recently launched a new website called Hope for Orphans Kids. This site has some great tools and resources, including a list of scripture references that detail how God views orphans (and how we should too!), testimonials from orphans from around the world, ways that kids can get involved in serving orphans and even a step-by-step explanation geared toward kids to help them better understand what it means to be adopted in God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ.

Check out Hope for Orphans Kids and invite your child to learn more and experience the joy of loving and serving orphans in Jesus’ name.

The Middle Mom

Posted on November 9, 2009 by The Tapestry Team1 Comment

The Middle MomThe Tapestry Book Club meets next on Tuesday, November 17, at 7 pm, at Irving Bible Church.

The girls are currently reading The Middle Mom by Christie Erwin. In fact, Christie will be attending this month’s book club gathering to share more about her amazing journey of faith as the “middle mom” to many precious children.

Don’t miss this great opportunity to chat with other adoptive and foster moms (and moms-to-be) and to hear from Christie herself.

Childcare is available with advanced registration.  For more information about the Tapestry Book Club click here or contact Amy Monroe at tapestry@irvingbible.org.

“I feel strongly that as believers it is not necessarily our job to try to change the system. It is our job to serve the children and the workers within that system, to make a difference in their lives because Jesus has made a difference in our lives. I guess what I am saying is that a broken system is no reason, no excuse, to neglect intervening on a child’s behalf; it only makes God’s provision for that child so much sweeter.”  — Christie Erwin, The Middle Mom
